It doesn’t get much better than this! We will be joined by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society’s USA Director, Tom Smith. We have known Tom for a long time now as an incredible voice for the Society here in the US and what better way to explore Scotland than to be with him!
The other tour leader will be myself, Charles Grabitzky, co-owner of Rascal + Thorn and First Fill Spirits, now in my 12th year of leading whisky tours to Scotland, Ireland, Japan & Kentucky! Orkney and Skye have a special place in my heart and I love bringing people to these magical islands.
Edinburgh & Leith
This tour starts and ends in Edinburgh, the home to the SMWS. While there we will have some special events planned for members including a Guided Whisky Tasting and Dinner with special guests! We will also enjoy a Whisky-Paired Dinner & Tasting at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society.
We will have 2 nights in Edinburgh to enjoy this beautiful city and see where the SMWS calls home.
Island Distillery Visits
Scotland is whisky heaven, but to really uncover the secrets, we need to visit distilleries and meet the people making the whisky! On this trip we will spend 7 nights on the road to visit some of our favorite distilleries including, but not limited to, Highland Park, Scapa, Old Pulteney, Wolfburn, Talisker, Raasay and others. We will fit as much whisky production into 7 days, and make it special at the same time.
We will also have some great meals in the region as the islands have the freshest ingredients from the sea and land.

Friday, April 30 – Arrive in Edinburgh for a 1-night stay. Guided Whisky Tasting and Dinner at SMWS Queen Street.
Saturday, May 1 – Depart Edinburgh for Wick for one night stopping for lunch and a visit to Old Pulteney.
Sunday, May 2 – Morning visit to Wolfburn before ferry to Orkney and Kirkwall for 3 nights. Afternoon strolling and dinner in Kirkwall.
Monday, May 3 to Tuesday, May 4 – 2 full days on Orkney to visit cultural sights, eat well and visit both Scapa and Highland Park distilleries.
Wednesday, May 5 – depart Orkney via ferry and travel to Skye for 3 nights in Portree. Visit cultural and nature spots along the way.
Thursday, May 6 to Friday, May 7 – 2 full days on Skye where we visit Talisker, Torabhaig, and a ferry to Raasay. We will also visit natural wonders in Skye.
Saturday, May 8 – We return to Edinburgh for our last night. Free time in the afternoon. Farewell dinner at The Vaults in Leith.
Sunday, May 9 – Departure from Edinburgh back to the US.
