What A Year!

We had an exciting first year in 2018 as Rascal + Thorn! Five Guest-Chef Dinners and trips to Kentucky, Barcelona, Scotland, Stone Barns and Japan.

Our year started off with two Guest-Chef dinners including a Food & Wine 2016 Chef of the Year, Brad Kilgore, from Alter in Miami. This was followed by Chef Johnny Spero, who recently opened his highly-anticipated restaurant Reverie in Georgetown.

Next up was a great Bourbon Trail Tour in Kentucky, a private Guest-Chef Dinner featuring Chef Victoria Blamey from New York City and a very special elBulli Tour of Barcelona in June.

We thought we would take a break in the summer, but the opportunity presented itself to bring the great Chef Patrick Roney from Kentucky to the Saratoga Polo Association for a really fun and delicious “Kentucky in Saratoga” dinner.

To top it off, our last Guest Chef from 2018 came all the way over from Barcelona. Chef Enrique Valenti put on a masterful performance in Troy with his version of Marea Alta in New York.

The end of the year included two whisky tours to Scotland and Japan and we also squeezed in an unbelievable day and meal at Blue Hill at Stone Barns.

Part 6 and the last of our recently concluded private tour of Barcelona and Madrid with our second day in marvelous Madrid that included starting with a superb pour-over Natural #geshacoffee from @geishacoffeemadrid (using a Bulgarian roaster), a stroll through the famous #elrastrodemadrid , a day trip to the home of the world’s most astounding #lechazoasado - @restaurante_mannix - and an eye-opening and delicious seminar on #spanishconservas by one of the world’s experts - @rogenriquez - before concluding for the evening with very full stomachs. I took it easy on the last day (I had more to come), but our group had a fabulous lunch at one of my favorites- Sachs! Finally, that evening we decamped to @salmonguru for a farewell cocktail!
