Japanese Whisky Distilleries
The Japanese whisky scene is really “blossoming” just like the season in which we will visit. With cherry blossoms in bloom, and new distilleries on the rise, this Japanese Whisky Tour will be truly special. On this “Classic” Tour, we have honed in our favorite places in Japan with incredible sightseeing, distillery visits, tastings and food.
This trip highlights some of the best that Japan has to offer with whisky as our guide. By visiting distilleries, you go to areas of Japan that are off the beaten path, and truly beautiful. Come join us on this annual trip. 2027 is going to be special.
Cultural Visits
As we travel around Japan, we will visit many sites, markets and neighborhoods. We base ourselves in Tokyo, Chichibu, Kiyosato, Shizuoka and Kyoto, so we have plenty of time for excursions and meals.
Each of these cities has their own unique highlights. From the bustling Shinjuku “city” in Tokyo, to the Japanese Alps in Kiyosato, and the beautiful streets and scenes in Kyoto. Our whisky day trips will take us to other incredible sights in Japan as well.
Whisky Bars & Dining
Japan is home to some of the best whisky bars in the world. We will be visiting many of these in the evenings in Tokyo, Chichibu and Kyoto. Japanese whisky bars are filled with expressions from all over the world and can be some of the best places to find great Japanese bottles as well.
Japanese cuisine is also top notch! We will make sure to enjoy the wide variety of Japanese offerings as we travel throughout the country.

Please note, this itinerary is fluid, but this is the plan!
Friday – Arrive to Tokyo for a 1-night stay. Evening group dinner followed by Aloha Whisky Bar.
Saturday – Leave via train for a 2-night stay in Chichibu. Afternoon temple visit and strolling. Dinner at the Highlander Inn.
Sunday – Chichibu Distillery Day! Evening visits to Bar Te Airigh and Bar Craic.
Monday – Depart via private bus for a 2-night stay in the Japanese Alps in Kiyosato. On the way, we visit the Komoro Distillery.
Tuesday – Day trip to Mars Komagatake Distillery. Bar Perch in the evening.
Wednesday – We leave Kiyosato for Shizuoka for one night. On the way we visit the Suntory Hakashu Distillery and experience a Wasabi Farm in the afternoon.
Thursday – In the morning we visit the Shizuoka Distillery. Afternoon bullet train to Kyoto for 3 nights.
Friday – Morning visit to Akashi Eigashima Distillery. Afternoon Kyoto sightseeing.
Saturday – Day trip to Osaka for food and whisky bars.
Sunday – Tour Ends in Kyoto.
