Distillery Visits

Distillery tours are the heart of what we do on the Bourbon Trail.  We work with different distilleries across Kentucky to craft an itinerary that represents the best of the Bourbon and Rye industry. Some of these are newer distilleries that have opened recently to the public. Others are the classics. We mix both to give a good representation of it all.

Charles Grabitzky, the whiskey specialist of Rascal + Thorn and First Fill Spirits, is leading this tour. Max group size will be 12 people.

Unique Excursions

Not only are we getting to visit many of the famous Bourbon distilleries in Kentucky, but we will have some special arrangements to production areas and private tastings.

This tour will include visits to a cooperage, the still-making facility of Vendome and many other treats. Kentucky is sure filled with them! It’s important to know the whole process of whiskey making to better understand how the brands you love are all different.

Dining

Food is always an important part of a Bourbon Trail tour! Louisville is one of the powerhouse dining centers of the South. Included in this Bourbon Trail Tour are two group dinners at great restaurants to enjoy some of this fine cuisine.

The group dynamic makes a trip like this fun as we can all experience the distilleries during the day, and the food and drink in the eve.

We will have lunch every day between distillery visits.

Itinerary

Wednesday – Arrive in Louisville for a 4-night stay.  Distillery Experience in the afternoon. Evening group dinner in Louisville.

Thursday – After breakfast at the hotel, we head first to Vendome to see the copper stills being made. This is followed by Castle & Key for a distillery tour and lunch. Afternoon visit to a Lexington-area located distillery. Still TBD.

Friday – After breakfast at the hotel, we leave and hit the trail. Early visit to Independent Stave Cooperage. Tour and experience at Bardstown Bourbon Co followed by lunch at Bottled in Bond. Afternoon visit to Lux Row Distillers and Willett. Group dinner in Louisville.

Saturday – Our final day in Louisville consists of local Louisville whiskey experiences including Angel’s Envy, Peerless Distilling & Michters.
