The Water of Life Film
The Water of Life is a fantastic documentary that focuses on the people who turned the stagnant whisky industry of the 1980’s into the force that we see today around the world. Greg Swartz, the Director of The Water of Life, joins Rascal + Thorn to collaborate for the second time on an unforgettable experience in the Speyside and Highlands regions to revisit some of the key places and experiences from the movie.
Greg will be joined by Holly Seidewand, our Rascal + Thorn trip leader and whisky expert! Holly co-owns First Fill Spirits in Saratoga Springs, NY, a boutique whisky shop that specializes in a curated selection from around the world.

Whisky Experiences
This 8-night tour is filled with special distillery visits and experiences! Not only that, we will take part in some of the Spirit of Speyside festivities which start just a couple of days before the tour! Our group will be based for 5 nights in a private estate right in the heart of the Speyside region with easy access to distilleries and events. There will be special tastings and discussions with some of the key craftsmen that will truly bring you back to The Water of Life special moments.
The tour will culminate with 3 nights in Inverness to explore more of the Highlands.
A Deep Dive!
The tour will take place for its entirety in the Speyside and Highlands region. If people want to come a few days early, they can join for more of the festival events that start on May 1st (extra add-on cost for nights and events). During the 8-night tour, we will have 5 days to explore Speyside with special visits with Balvenie, GlenAllachie, Glenfarclas, Gordon & MacPhail and so many more. This is in addition to the special events during the festival.
The last three nights will focus further north as we stay in Inverness with special visits to Balblair, Dornoch and the Thompson Brothers, and many more visits.

Saturday, May 4 – Arrive to the Speyside Region for 5 nights. We can help arrange getting to our estate from Edinburgh.
Sunday to Thursday, May 5 to 9 – Speyside Festival and Distillery Visits
Thursday to Sunday, May 9 to 12 – Highlands Visits and Experiences
Sunday, May 12 – Departure from the Highlands
Please note, this itinerary is fluid. Festival Events won’t be released until early 2024, so a final itinerary will be provided then. But it will be filled with amazing experiences throughout!

A deposit of $1295.00 is due to secure a place on the trip. Reservations are taken on a first-come / first-serve basis.
Single Supplement is available. The single supplement cost is an additional $1000.
Final payment is due 90 days prior to the start of the tour.
